The centrepiece of the day is the $250,000 Group 3 Standish Handicap (1200m), with the winner earning automatic entry into the prestigious Group 1 Yulong Newmarket Handicap (1200m) on Super Saturday, Saturday, 8 March 2025.
This race day is a tribute to former VRC Chairman, Captain Frederick Standish, who is credited with the concept of the Melbourne Cup and served as Chairman from 1879-1883.
