Each of the nine series has seen between five and nine heats run across Victoria, with the winner and runner up each earning their place in the final with the remaining places decided on ballot order.
Four of the finals carry Listed status - the $200,000 Listed A.R Creswick Stakes (1200m), the Listed Schweppes Taj Rossi Series Final (1600m), Listed VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Final (1600m) and the Listed Santa Ana Lane Sprint Series Final (1200m).
A full field has assembled in the $200,000 VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Final (1600m) headlined by in form galloper King Magnus, who comes into the race off the back of two qualifying wins at Flemington. Tuvalu took out this race last year and went on to score Group 1 success in the spring.
Riders will pay tribute to 2008 Australian Cup-winning jockey Peter Mertens by wearing black armbands for Race 5. The VRC offer their condolences to the Mertens family and son Beau during this difficult time.
Off the track, racegoers will be able to enjoy a classic day of winter racing with a host of activities available for all to enjoy.
VRC Members can enjoy the return of the Family Bistro in The View with a delicious kid-friendly menu and an assortment of family fun including a silent disco, arcade games and a silent cinema. A special display of historic racing games including a unique Westwood Family Merry-Go-Round will be on display in The Atrium.
Living Legends Apache Cat and Santa Ana Lane will be on-course for Flemington Finals Race Day and parade in the Mounting Yard between races 2 and 4. Racegoers will also have the opportunity to visit them in the race day stalls throughout the day.
