Lightsaber the force for racegoers in the Seppelt Wines All-Star Mile

9 March 2022 Written by Andrew Hawkins

Lightsaber will carry the hopes of Flemington racegoers in The Seppelt Wines All-Star Mile when the three-year-old lines up in the $5 million feature on Saturday 19 March, with one lucky patron set to be in the running to win $250,000* as part of the world’s richest mile race.

The owner ambassador program is one of the unique features of The Seppelt Wines All-Star Mile, with the top 10 horses in voting each assigned an ambassador who voted for that horse.

The five wildcards, Inspirational Girl, Sierra Sue, Hitotsu, Lightsaber and Pinstriped, were then assigned to five The Seppelt Wines All-Star Mile partners at Flemington this morning.

Perth-owned mare Inspirational Girl was selected by TAB, Entain picked Sierra Sue, champion colt Hitotsu was partnered with KIIS and rags to riches three-year-old Pinstriped was matched with News Corp.

Lightsaber was the last horse in the draw and the Victoria Racing Club (VRC) was pleased to be allocated the colt, who finished second in the Group 1 Australian Guineas at Flemington at his most recent start.

That means that those who head to Flemington next Saturday will be in the running to become Lightsaber’s owner ambassador with the chance to win up to $250,000*, with his owner ambassador receiving at least $10,000*  just for taking part.

The prize will be determined by Lightsaber's finishing position: first nets $250,000*, second $75,000*, third $40,000*, fourth $20,000*, fifth $15,000* and sixth through 15th $10,000*.

Everyone who attends Flemington on The Seppelt Wines All-Star Mile Race Day on Saturday 19 March and scans the QR code will go into the draw to be an All-Star Mile Owner Ambassador with a chance to win $250,000*.

To ensure you’re in with a chance of winning the $250,000*, enter the track and scan the QR code before 1:40pm.

Tickets start at just $20 per person. For more information or to book visit vrc.net.au.

Lightsaber is trained by champion trainer Peter Moody and owned by a syndicate run by Bloodblood Thoroughbreds.

He is on the third line of betting at $8 in the TAB's all-in market for the prestigious mile.
