The Victoria Racing Club (VRC) today announced Western Australian-born model and entrepreneur Nicole Trunfio will return to the 2022 Melbourne Cup Carnival as a VRC Ambassador, attending Penfolds Victoria Derby Day and Kennedy Oaks Day.

On Penfolds Victoria Derby Day, Nicole will enjoy the day in Villa Paradiso, an all-day fine-dining degustation experience located inside the world-famous Birdcage throughout Cup Week.

The supermodel will also join Delta Goodrem AM and Stephen Jones OBE at the VRC Kennedy Oaks Club Lunch at Crown and judge the Myer Fashions on the Field National Final in The Park on Kennedy Oaks Day on Thursday 3 November.

Originally hailing from country Western Australia, Nicole’s globally successful modelling career saw her walking the runways of top international fashion brands including Chanel, Versace and Christian Dior. Now as a successful entrepreneur and CEO of two businesses, Erth and Bumpsuit, she is bringing her bold fashion trackside to Flemington.

The model-turned-entrepreneur now lives on a 50-acre horse ranch near Austin, Texas, with her husband and three children where she regularly rides horses.

Nicole will return to Australia for the 2022 Melbourne Cup Carnival, having last visited  Flemington in 2019 where she attended Kennedy Oaks Day. Nicole has spent the past two years celebrating the magic of Cup Week from her ranch in Texas and is looking forward to being back on track this year.

“I am beyond excited to be returning to Flemington this year to attend both Penfolds Victoria Derby Day and Kennedy Oaks Day! I had such an amazing time in 2019 and cannot wait to be back on track this year and immerse myself in the magic of Cup Week, including the incredible fashion,” Nicole said.

“I’m really looking forward to judging the Myer Fashions on the Field competition and think it’s wonderful that anyone can enter the Best Dressed and Best Suited categories and really tailor their looks to their own personal style.”

VRC Chairman Neil Wilson said the club was delighted to be welcoming the very fashionable Nicole back to Flemington again.

“We are pleased to welcome Nicole back to Flemington to attend Penfolds Victoria Derby Day and Kennedy Oaks Day. She has created many memorable Cup Week fashion moments, from posing with Derby runner So Si Bon in 2016 to multiple outfit changes on Kennedy Oaks Day in 2019, we look forward to hosting her again this year,” Mr Wilson said.

“As Myer Fashions on the Field celebrates 60 years with an inclusive new format, the 2022 Melbourne Cup Carnival represents a huge milestone for the VRC and we are thrilled to have Nicole involved in setting the course for the future.”

The Melbourne Cup Carnival is one of Victoria’s biggest sporting and cultural events, attracting up to 300,000 racegoers to Flemington and generating over $430 million for the Victorian economy each year including providing an enormous boost to the fashion retail sector.

The 2022 Melbourne Cup Carnival commences with Penfolds Victoria Derby Day on Saturday 29 October, followed by Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday 1 November, Kennedy Oaks Day on Thursday 3 November and TAB Champions Stakes Day on Saturday 5 November.
