$200,000 up for grabs for everyday Australians in revised All-Star Mile format

Racegoers over the age of 18 who enter the racecourse on Black Caviar Lightning Race Day (Saturday 15 February), Howden Australian Guineas Day (Saturday 1 March) and Super Saturday (Saturday 8 March) before 1:30pm will go in the running to become an owner ambassador in this year’s All-Star Mile.

Owner ambassadors will be treated to a racing experience like no other, with each ambassador to be assigned a barrier and horse in the final field and enjoy an exclusive behind the scenes experience at Flemington on Super Saturday.

Five lucky racegoers will be randomly selected on each Flemington race day to become an owner ambassador and win a share in $200,000. One person will also have the chance to win their way in via a listener competition on The Fox with Fifi, Fev and Nick.
The winner will receive $100,000 while the remaining owner ambassadors will be guaranteed a minimum of $1,000 no matter where their horse places in the field.

The All-Star Mile has quickly established itself as one of Australia’s premier races since its introduction in 2019 and brings together proven champions and next-generation stars. Previous winners include stars of the turf Mystic Journey, Zaaki and Pride of Jenni.

The owner ambassador competition has proven to be a life-changing opportunity for its lucky winners, with people from all backgrounds taking home the prize in previous years, including a painter, a retired butler, a single mother, and a builder.

Nominations for The All-Star Mile close tomorrow, Tuesday 11 February at 12pm (AEDT), with headline horses Mr Brightside and Atishu expected to feature.

VRC Chief Executive Officer Kylie Rogers said the competition further adds to the exciting offering at Flemington for racegoers throughout February and March.

“The owner ambassador competition is an exciting initiative and an incredible opportunity for everyday Australians to be a part of the race and win a share in $200,000,” Ms Rogers said.

“Not only can racegoers enjoy three fantastic race days at Flemington but they also have the chance to win a huge cash prize simply by scanning their ticket or VRC membership.

“Owner ambassadors will enjoy an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience at Flemington on Super Saturday, getting a firsthand look at a day in the life of an owner and enjoying a world-class race day.

“Super Saturday is shaping up to be one of the biggest days on the racing calendar with the Group 1 $1.5 million Yulong Newmarket Handicap for sprinters the joint highlight alongside The All-Star Mile.”

This weekend’s Black Caviar Lightning Race Day is headlined by the Group 1 $1 million Black Caviar Lightning (1000m) with the winner of the Listed Elms Handicap (1400m) gaining automatic entry into The All-Star Mile (1600m). Other attractions include a Black Caviar photographic display on the front lawn, Black Caviar pop-up bar and the Flemington Family Lawn.
