Kick off 2022 with summer racing fun.
The first race day of the new year features the Listed Bagot Handicap, attracting the best off-season stayers as they showcase their potential for bigger targets at Flemington. Last year’s winner Tralee Rose went on to win the Group 3 Geelong Cup later that year and finished ninth in the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
With warm temperatures forecast, all race times have been brought forward for VRC New Year’s Day Race Day. The first race is now scheduled to jump two hours earlier at 10:35am. Gates will open at 9:35am, and the last race run at 3pm.
Make sure you're here to enjoy “Happy Hour” from 11:30am to 12:30pm when all drinks (by the glass) are half price from all retail venues across course. All dining and retail outlets will be open from 9:35am (gate opening time) with lunch service across all dining venues commencing from 11:30am.
Looking for somewhere cool to bring the kids? Enjoy the family friendly fun on the Flemington Family Lawn, on The Parade Lawn. A place where you can relax in comfort, enjoy the racing and watch the kids enjoying all that the family lawn has to offer, from fun-filled games, face painting and good old fashioned water sprinklers (don't forget the kids' bathers) to help keep cool.
Looking to continue new year celebrations? Kick off 2022 with our ‘Party After the Last’ series, running all summer long with headline acts performing special sets after the last race. Don’t miss the electric energy on stage with the Stafford Brothers* after the last race from 3:30pm on the Front Lawn Beer Garden.
*Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions only one Stafford Brother will be performing on New Year's Day.
