Fast and festive for Rapid Racing Race Day

Racegoers can spend the afternoon relaxing at Flemington with an action-packed program including seven sprints down the famous Flemington straight across three hours headlined by the $200,000 Listed Kensington Stakes (1000m).

A full field has assembled for the feature with notorious speedster Najem Suhail returning to Flemington for trainers Robbie Griffiths and Mathew De Kock who will also be represented by Halvorsen in the race. Last start Flemington winner, Najem Suhail recorded the fastest mid-race speed for the entire meeting, reaching a top speed of 68.1km/h in the Listed G.H. Mumm Century Stakes.

The fastest speed competition will return, with punters encouraged to guess a horse’s fastest speed in races 4 through to 7 for a chance to share in a prize pool of more than $6,000. Racegoers must be on-course to enter and can simply scan a QR code to submit their guess of the fastest average speed over a 200m sectional in km/h (i.e 68.2 km/h). Prizes include VIP golf experiences at Eynesbury Golf, all-inclusive dinner and karaoke package at Yum Sing House for 8 people and an exclusive whiskey tasting and degustation experience at Ms Peacock Restaurant for 10 people.

Christmas celebrations will be in full swing across course with a host of end of year celebrations and activities on offer for racegoers of all ages. The famous Flemington Front Lawn will play host to Santa’s Garden with a Mr Whippy van and lawn games for children. Santa will make a guest appearance alongside Mrs Claus who will also be trackside to help Phar Lap Club Members create a special bag of reindeer food to take home for the garden on Christmas Eve.

VRC Chief Executive Officer Steve Rosich said the club was looking forward to a fantastic festive race day to round out 2023 at Flemington.

“This year's Rapid Racing Race Day closes out a fantastic year of racing at Flemington. It is set to be the perfect summer afternoon for people to come to Flemington and celebrate with family and friends before the festive period begins,” Mr Rosich said.

“It is a unique concept to have seven straight races and racegoers will be entertained by the fast pace of the racing action with just 30-minute gaps between races. And thanks to our partners, some lucky people will be going home with early Christmas presents if they are able to guess the fastest speed.”

Keeping in with the festive spirit, the aptly named Living Legend Santa Ana Lane will attend the race day alongside fellow legend, Beauty Generation. Racegoers will be able to visit them in the race day stalls throughout the afternoon.
