The VRC’s largest race day outside the spring brings together some of the country’s best horses, world class food and wine and epic entertainment.
A regular racegoer, Nick said he was looking forward to being trackside at Flemington for Super Saturday as he gears up for the start of the AFL season.
“There’s nothing better than a day out at Flemington and I’m really looking forward to attending Super Saturday with mates. It’s the perfect time of the year for me to enjoy a day out at the races before the season starts so I can’t wait to enjoy all the action on and off the track,” Nick said.
“I met sprint champion Redkirk Warrior this week so it’s got me excited to watch some of the fastest horses in Australia fly up the Flemington straight.”
VRC Chief Executive Officer Steve Rosich said the club was delighted to welcome 2022 AFL Rising Star winner Nick and all racegoers to Flemington for Super Saturday, 11 March.
“We are very excited to welcome Nick as a special guest on Super Saturday. As a passionate racing fan and an exceptional athlete, Nick represents the growing interest in racing at Flemington among the younger demographic. We know he will have a wonderful time watching some of Australia’s best horses compete at Australia’s premier racetrack,” Mr Rosich said.
“With over 15,000 racegoers expected on track, the atmosphere will be supercharged with plenty of fun to be had for all racegoers, including the Front Lawn Party Hour after the last race.”
The Group 1 Yulong Stud Newmarket Handicap (1200m) is the feature of the day and is set to be a scintillating contest, with defending champion Roch ‘N’ Horse facing fierce competition in the form of I Wish I Win and In Secret.
Off the track, the Flemington Fareground will be the place to be, with a huge offering of delectable food, wine and live entertainment. Melbourne-based DJ John Course will also continue the Super Saturday celebrations after the last race as part of the Front Lawn Party Hour.
Super Saturday will also see the VRC team up with the Good Friday Appeal to raise much needed funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital. Racegoers will be encouraged to contribute on the day with volunteers out in force rattling tins and selling raffle tickets for a dedicated race day raffle generously supported by the VRC’s partners.
General Admission tickets are $25 per person with children under 12 admitted free. Find out more information about ticketing for Super Saturday.
Gates open at 11:05am with Race 1 at 12:35pm and the last race at 5:40pm.
The Flemington Racing Spectacular will conclude in fantastic style on the new TAB Australian Cup Day on Saturday 25 March with the running of the $3 million TAB Australian Cup and the Lexus Roy Higgins (2600m) with the first golden ticket into the 2023 Lexus Melbourne Cup up for grabs.
